Permohonan naturalisasi pesepak bola asal Spanyol Jordi Amat Mass dan Sandy Walsh dari Belanda diterima DPR RI lewat Komisi III. Keputusan itu diambil dalam rapat di Gedung Parlemen Senayan, Jakarta, Senin, 29 Agustus 2022.

Persetujuan naturalisasi itu disahkan Ketua Komisi III DPR RI Bambang Wuryanto usai mendapat suara bulat dari anggota rapat Komisi III. "Untuk kali ini, kami tawarkan sekali lagi komisi III apakah dapat menyetujui permohonan Sandy Walsh dan Jordi Amat Mass untuk menjadi warga negara Indonesia?" tanya Bambang.

"Setuju," jawab anggota yang hadir disusul ketukan palu persetujuan Bambang.

Program naturalisasi ini bukan kali pertama dilakukan oleh Indonesia. Sudah ada puluhan pesepak bola yang dinaturalisasi sejak 2010 lalu, seperti Diego Michiel, Irfan Bachdim, Cristian Gonzales, Ilija Spasojevic, Stefano Lilipaly, dan lainnya.

Naturalisasi atau pewarganegaraan adalah proses perubahan status dari penduduk asing menjadi warga suatu negara. Tapi, proses ini harus memenuhi beberapa persyaratan yang diatur dalam peraturan kewarganegaraan negara yang bersangkutan.

Di Indonesia, permohonan tentang pewarganegaraan atau naturalisasi diatur dalam Undan-Undang Nomor 12 Tahun 2006. Dalam pasal 9, terdapat syarat-syarat mengajukan naturalisasi menjadi warga negara Indonesia.
