Types of basement waterproofing

Types of basement waterproofing

1. By type of application:

  • Coating – basement waterproofing, applied to the surface of the structure with a brush.

  • Pasting – using protective materials glued to the basement walls.

  • Injection – insulation by injecting special hydrophobic materials into the cavity of the structure.

2. By application side:

  • Internal – performed from inside the building.

  • External – insulation of the basement from the ground side.

3. By type of materials:

  • Penetrating. A type of material that changes the structure of concrete due to chemically active components. Compacts concrete, adding strength and frost resistance. Not afraid of damage and sun.

  • Plaster. Materials that are applied by plastering and create a protective layer on the surface, which is intended to act as waterproofing. Afraid of damage.

  • Liquid. Materials that resemble rubber in characteristics. They are applied by wet spraying and create a protective elastic layer. They are afraid of damage.

  • Roll. Insulation in rolls on a bitumen base, i.e. roofing felt and euro-roofing felt. It is glued to the surface using high temperatures. It is afraid of damage.

  • Bituminous. Bitumen-based mastics that create a viscous protective film on the surface of concrete. Ineffective.

  • Epoxy. Resins that are used to pump voids in the body of concrete using high-pressure pumps.

  • Polymer. Cement-based materials with added polymers for elasticity. Applied with a brush and create a protective layer on the surface. Afraid of damage.
